Project Overview
Scott System showcased its innovative Y-Column Formwork for the Ritz Carlton Estero Bay, located between Sanibel Island and Naples, Florida. The project features three striking 24-foot-tall columns, each spanning 12 feet wide, designed to appear visually unique while maximizing formwork efficiency.
Solution
To optimize cost and reusability, Scott System crafted a single set of EPS foam column formwork. The design allowed the forms to be rotated and flipped between casts, meeting diverse aesthetic specifications while minimizing the need for multiple form sets. The formwork was precision-carved from EPS foam using a 10’x15’ CNC machine, coated with durable polyurethane, and laminated with plywood for added strength. Prior to shipping to Bonita Springs, the forms were dry fitted to ensure precise alignment and adherence to tolerances.
Why EPS Foam?
Traditional wood and steel formwork often struggle with the complex geometry of Y-columns, leading to higher costs and potential quality issues. By leveraging advanced CAD, CAM, and CNC technologies, Scott System overcame these challenges, delivering precise, cost-effective formwork with exceptional quality and design flexibility.
This innovative approach not only reduced formwork costs but also ensured the columns’ unique aesthetic and structural integrity, making it a standout feature of the Ritz Carlton Estero Bay.
