About the Project

In collaboration with Structuretech, Scott System crafted massive Foam Arch Void Forms and a custom #177 Random Stone Urethane Formliner for a building designed by acclaimed architect Sir David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates. The structure was envisioned to be both visually captivating and tactile, with oversized shapes and bold textures driving the design. The project centered on a ground-level plaza, framed by architectural arches and textured concrete, seamlessly integrating private spaces with the surrounding urban environment.

Scope of Work

Scott System engineered large-scale Foam Arch Void Forms to create striking architectural voids, enhancing the building’s distinctive aesthetic and material focus. Paired with these voids, a custom #177 Random Stone Urethane Formliner was developed with a reversed pattern, embedding a natural stone texture into the concrete surfaces. This innovative formliner design ensured the concrete not only resembled stone but also conveyed a tactile quality, aligning with Adjaye’s vision of a building that is “seen and felt.” The forms and liners were precision-crafted to meet the architect’s specifications while ensuring structural integrity.

Impact

Through close collaboration with Structuretech, Scott System delivered bold, textured elements that elevated the plaza’s architectural arches and surrounding concrete. The result is a dynamic, cohesive space that blends private and urban environments, bringing Sir David Adjaye’s sensory-driven vision to life.
